Green/Command, let me show you it.

Whee, Green/Command is done. I'm quite pleased with how the tartan on the pipes turned out, but of course the flash washed it out and made it look all pastel-y. Sigh.

Now I'm moving on Green Platoon's Heavy Weapons squad. I decided a short time ago that between the artillery and bajillions of lasguns, I have plenty of anti-infantry firepower, but nothing to hurt high-toughness baddies or transports at range and thus needed to switch the heavy weapons squads to have Autocannons instead of Heavy Bolters. Not wanting to rip apart the existing squad or make new ones, I've tried to come up with a conversion to the heavy bolter body that still looks like an autocannon. I think it works, but I'd love some opinions. It means I'll lose the awesome Vickers MG look, but I'll just have to live with that.

  1. I'm liking that autocannon conversion, what are you think for the ammo feed, belt or drum?

  2. Thanks. :) Probably belt, just because that won't require any (more) modifications to the existing guns.

  3. I like the conversion but if you want to keep it close to a vickers you could use a piece of tube and some greenstuff to make it look like the cooling jacket of a Pom Pom machine cannon.

  4. Did you see my autocannon conversions for last year's Astro-Van? I even converted a missile launcher, from 3rd edition box set I think to be an autocannon, of course mostly I just used the IG weapons on chaos space marines.

You're painting too much, some of us have no time and energy or waste it reading blogs...

  5. ColKillgore~Thanks for the suggestion. I spent a while looking at various pictures of the Pom Pom, and it still looks too much like a machine gun to me, rather than an autocannon. Still, I suspect it'll be good reference for vehicle-mounted HBs.

Muskie~I don't think I did, no. The only autocannon I saw on your blog looked like it used the stock Havoc metal AC, which for some reason is one of my favourite GW models...
